The Press Information Bureau (PIB) of the govt of India has clarified that the news that a lockdown are going to be imposed in Surat within the next 48 hours is different from the reality and misleading. News is circulating that a policy commission sent by the central government and a team from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) have recommended a lockdown in Surat.

This clarification has been made by the PIB following the clarification made by the Policy Commission and therefore the Union Ministry of Health. Such reports were published in some newspapers but the central government has termed these rumors.

Private doctors from Surat presented the lockdown to the team. in sight of the deteriorating situation within the city, the AIIMS team visited Ahmedabad to debate things in Surat. it's since recommended the central government to lockdown again in Surat.
