The situation is very critical in Madhya Pradesh due to heavy rains. A flood-like situation has arisen in Hoshangabad. Because of this, the army has also been called here. Two NDRF teams have reached out for help. On the other hand, Bhopal has also been receiving continuous rains since Friday. As many as 97.7 mm of water was recorded in Bhopal till 6 am on Saturday.

Due to continuous rains, 120 out of 251 dams in the state have lost 90 percent of their water capacity. In these circumstances opening the gates of most dams can increase the risk of flooding at low levels. As far as Hoshangabad is concerned, the water level of Narmada has risen from 964 feet to 9 feet to 968.90 due to heavy rains. Each of the 13 gates of Tawa Dam is being opened by 30-30 feet and 5 lakh 33 thousand 823 cusecs of water is being released per second.

There is no relief from the current rains
The meteorological department has issued heavy rain alert in most districts of the state in the next 48 hours. The meteorological department has issued red alerts in Chhindwara, Vidisha, Sehore, Rajgarh, Shajapur, and Agar. Apart from that, heavy rains have been declared in 18 districts including Bhopal and Indore.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan canceled his visit due to heavy rains and bad weather in Sehore, Raisen, Sagar along with floods in Hoshangabad and called an emergency meeting at the Chief Minister's residence at 10 am. He took the information on water level of major rivers of the state. "Keep an eye on the situation," the chief minister told officials. Take action where needed.



Shivraj said that the water level of Narmada and its tributaries has risen. Many rivers are flowing above the danger level. A heavy rain alert has been issued in some parts of the state for the next 48 hours. NDRF and SDRF are on alert.

In Khandwa, the administration is monitoring the villages along the Narmada. Water is being released from both the dams at a speed of about 10 thousand cusecs per second. This has raised the water level of Narmada to the danger level. At an equivalent time, the backwaters of the Sardar Sarovar Dam are steadily increasing. People are shifting goods with the assistance of boats.
