The government is preparing to announce a cashless treatment scheme for road accident victims soon. In each case, a security cover of Rs 2.5 lakh is going to be provided.

This scheme are going to be vital for the citizens of the country as there are about 5 lakh road accidents within the country per annum during which an estimated 1.5 lakh people die and about 3 lakh people become permanently disabled. the very best number of deaths within the country is in vehicle accidents.

For the Cashless Scheme for Road Accident Victims, an automobile Accident Fund is going to be found out by the Ministry of Highways and Transport (MoRTH). the knowledge was given during a circular issued to the transport secretaries and commissioners of the states. The scheme will provide a private accident cover of Rs 2.5 lakh. consistent with ministry figures, 1,50,785 people were killed in road accidents within the country in 2016, including 15,746 pedestrians. In 2017, 1,47,913 people were killed in road accidents, including 20,457 pedestrians. 

In 2018, 1,51,417 people were killed in road accidents, including 22,656 pedestrians. Similarly, a mean of 19,620 pedestrians has lost their lives in road accidents within the last three years.
