Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has announced an aid scheme to encourage the use of battery-powered two-wheelers and three-wheelers in the cities and towns of the state to curb air pollution from vehicles.
Under this assistance scheme, the government will provide assistance of Rs 12,000 to students studying from Std-9 to college in the state to purchase a battery-powered two-wheeler. The target is to provide subsidy to 10,000 vehicles.
Chief Minister gave this eco-friendly gift to the citizens of the state as a panchasheel gift of five development schemes in the state to celebrate the 70th birth anniversary of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. At the same time, a scheme of Rs 50 lakh has been implemented to set up infrastructure facilities for charging battery-powered vehicles.
Today, when the effects of climate change have become a challenge to the whole world, years ago, the then Chief Minister Narendra Modi created the first timely climate change department in the country keeping in view the challenges that would arise in the future.

Aiming to install solar system on 2 lakh residential houses this year, the Chief Minister further said that Gujarat is number one in the country in installing solar system on residential houses.
Approximately 2 lakh tonnes of carbon dioxide gas stops mixing in the atmosphere,
he added, adding that Gujarat is also a leader in renewable energy. The total installed capacity of electricity in the state is 35,500 MW. Effective implementation of unconventional energy stops approximately 2 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere during the year and saves 10 million tons of coal for power generation. The purity of the atmosphere is also maintained.
