So far, more than 40,000 photos and short videos have been posted on Instagram alone. While this challenge may look good, cyber experts and police across the country have urged people to be vigilant.

There have also been several complaints in this case. Let us know, what is this challenge? And why are the police saying no to this challenge?

What is the #CoupleChallenge Campaign?
Thousands of people are posting photos of couples on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter with the hashtag Couple Challenge. So far, more than 40,000 photos and short videos have been posted on Instagram with this hashtag.

There have also been thousands of memes following this trend, where single people are connecting photos of a celebrity with themselves using Photoshop. Some singles have even used this trend to joke about their loneliness.

The Nagpur Police Law Enforcement Authority has used the campaign to spread awareness of the Kovid-19 epidemic. He tweeted that the mask is the best couple at the moment.

Why do the police say to stay away from this trend?

This internet challenge has also caught the attention of the police and they are getting many complaints. Police said many of the pictures were being tampered with. It is being used for pornography, deep fake or other cybercrime. Pune police tweeted that you should think twice before posting a photo with your partner.

Some have claimed before the police that cases of posting pictures on pornographic websites are also coming to light. In a press briefing, Inspector Jairam Paigude at the cyber police station in Pune said people need to be vigilant before posting such a picture.

What is Revenge Porn and Deepfake?

Over the past few years, thousands of people especially women have become victims of cybercrime, such as DeepFax and Revenge Porn. Deepfax means that images and videos are created from a computer using Artificial Intelligence (AI). Criminals superimpose a person's face on a video or photo present.

In March 2018, a fake video of Michelle Obama, the wife of the US President, appeared on a social networking site called 'Reddit'. His face was applied to the face of a pornstar using a fake app. Many videos of Indian actresses were also uploaded on pornographic websites using this technology.

The use of fake or edited photos on social networking and dating sites to blackmail, retaliate or defraud people has not diminished. Revenge porn is about making obscene photos or videos of a person and posting them on the internet without permission. Cybercriminals often do such things to annoy a person.
