The Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has given good news to domestic air travelers. The DGCA said domestic airlines could offer discounts on ticket prices to passengers traveling without the item. DGCA has issued guidelines for various services and fees through notification.
People traveling with cabin bags will also benefit
, according to a notification issued by the DGCA, which allows airlines to offer cheaper tickets to passengers who travel without items or only with cabin bags. This item will be announced at the time of ticket booking. At present a passenger can carry a cabin bag weighing 7 kg and a check-in bag weighing 15 kg. In addition there is a charge per kg for extra weight.
Based on the feedback, the DGCA said in a notification that basic fares are likely to be cheaper , adding that many of the services included in the ticket do not require passengers to travel. If the services and charges are separated, the basic fare is likely to be cheaper. In addition, passengers will have the option to choose other services.
Preferential seating charge.
Snake, food and drink charge except water.
Charge to use the Airlines Lounge.
Sports Equipment Charges.
Musical instrument carriage
Special fee for expensive bags (per unit allowed)
Check-in baggage charge. Scheduled airlines will have to offer free luggage as there is nothing under
the airline's baggage policy.
Passengers can take any of these facilities along with the base fare as per their convenience.
