Main features of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana

The target is to provide housing to all by the year 207

Beneficiary Selection S.E.C. According to 2011 data. The size of the accommodation is 20 sq.m. Increased from 3 sq.m.

The amount of assistance has been increased from Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 1,50,000 and Rs. 12,50 under MGNREGA scheme, Rs. 15,000 for construction of toilets under Swachh Bharat Mission and Rs. 2,16,50.

Eligibility Criteria for Subsidy:

The applicant / family / household should not have a permanent home in the name of him or any of his family members in any part of the country.

The applicant should never have availed the assistance of any Center / State under any housing scheme of the Government of India before. The location of the property should be in all legal cities and their neighborhood planning area (updated periodically by the government) according to the 2011 population.

A key aspect of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) is credit linked subsidy for lower income class / economically weaker class (Lower Income Group-LIG / Economically Weaker Section-EWS) and Middle Income Group (MIG I and II).
