CM Yogi wants this event to be more grand than ever

This is the first Dipotsav since the start of construction of the Ram temple, in which case Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath wants the festival to be more grand than before.  The Chief Minister has sought a detailed presentation on the 'Dipotsav' program from the Culture Department in a meeting with the concerned officials.

However, Tantra said, "The Chief Minister wants this year's festival to be memorable. In such a scenario, we will ensure that people around the world can see the event virtually."  It is to be noted that even before this, since the yogi government came into existence, Dipotsav programs have been held on the Saryu coast in the first two Diwali seasons and a world record of 5.51 lakh lamps has been set here.

The festival was started by CM Yogi in 2012

The Dipotsav festival was started by CM Yogi Adityanath in 2017.  Residents and volunteers, devotees gathered at the festival and lit a record number of 1.76 lakh earthen lamps.  Last year, Ayodhya set a world record of lighting 5.51 lakh lamps.  The event was recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records.

This year, however, it is still unclear whether the number of lamps will be increased.  Sources said the state tourism department wants to beautifully equip the city with lights.  LED lightboxes will be installed in the city during the festival.  The area will be illuminated with a box made of acrylic sheets.  A large life size figure of Lord Ram's 'Ram Darbar' riding in a chariot on city streets will also be displayed.

A second edition will be included in Ram Ki Pauri

Another figure of Ram Darbar on the banks of Saryu river will be installed in Ram Ki Pauri.  Carved pillars and other decorative elements will be added to the 18-foot-tall structure.  The Uttar Pradesh government has already given the status of 'State Fair' to the Dipotsav program in Ayodhya.

With the change in its status, the fair will now be organized by the district magistrate of Ayodhya. Government spokesperson Shrikant Sharma said the festival was organized last year at an estimated cost of Rs 1.33 crore.
