In the video that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has tweeted, the water flowing from the Sun Temple falls into the tank. It is called Suryakund or Ramkund. There are 108 small temples all around Suryakund. There are four large temples on the inside of the tank. Vishnu temple in the east, Ganesha idols with various idols of Vaishnava sect in the west. Nataraja in the north and Shitla Mata temple in the south. Two huge pillars are seen rising above Suryakund. It is known as Kirti pillar. There are idols of Kalabhairav and Shivaparvati near the main temple.

The Sun Temple was built by Solanki king Bhimdev I.
There are three Sun Temples in India, the first being the Konark Temple in Orissa, the second being the Martand Temple in Jammu and the third being the Sun Temple in Modhera in Gujarat. The king of the Solanki dynasty was 'Suryavanshi', they worshiped the sun as a family deity, so Bhimdev Solanki I decided to build a magnificent sun temple on Vikram Samvat 1083 (AD 1025-26) for the worship of his first deity and thus a sun temple in Modhera. Was formed.

The greatest feature of this world-famous temple, which is a wonderful example of sculpture, is that no limestone has been used anywhere in the construction of the entire temple. Built in the Iranian style, this temple was built by Bhimdev in two parts. The first part is the sanctum sanctorum and the second part is the assembly hall. The inside of the sanctum sanctorum of the temple is 51 feet and 9 inches long and 25 feet 8 inches wide. The assembly hall of the temple has a total of 52 pillars. On these pillars are carved images of various deities of fine workmanship and occasions of Ramayana and Mahabharata. These columns look octagonal when looking downwards and round when looking upwards. The temple is constructed in such a way that the first rays of the sun fall on the sanctum sanctorum of the temple at sunrise. There is a huge tank in front of the assembly hall. People call it Suryakund or Ramkund. The Sun Temple was severely damaged in the attack by Allauddin Khilji and the idols of the temple were vandalized. The Archaeological Survey of India has now taken the temple under its protection.

Twice a year the Sun Temple is illuminated by pink rays
The Sun Temple of Modhera is lit twice a year on 23rd March and 23rd September by the pink rays of the sun. Such a wonderful and rare event happens only 2 times a year. That too only these 2 days on 23rd March and 23rd September. On both these days the sun rises at 90 degrees right in the middle of the Modhera Sun Temple. This divine sight was seen this morning from 6:51 to 7:12.

There is such a belief
It is believed that the main idol of the temple was of gold and had a huge diamond near the third eye in its Bhal region. The golden rays of the sun illuminate the entire temple on the two days of Sam Prakashiya, March 23 and September 23. But unfortunately there is no idol of the sun god here today. It is said that the generals of the Muslim rulers Muhammad Gajanbi and Alauddin Khilji demolished the temple to plunder its treasures. At this time the locals hid somewhere to save the idol of the sun god. However, no one currently knows where he is.
